In exploring popular media, teachers can be seen in both the role of the tyrant or the parent, a god-like figure that brings enlightenment or one that sows fear or stifles their subjects\u2019 individuality. By visiting school classrooms and analysing media portrayals of the teacher, I grapple with this duality of the teacher\u2019s role.
