How does the design of a therapy room impact emotional safety, openness and comfort? How does the design of a therapy room shape our ability to feel safe, open up and heal? PlayScape challenges the traditional, static therapy space by introducing flexibility, sensory engagement and play. Instead of fixed environments that try to feel like \u201chome\u201d but often miss the mark, this degree project explores how adaptable spatial elements can be. This can give individuals a sense of control over their surroundings\u2014and, in turn, their own therapeutic experience.<\/p>\n
Through a hands-on toolkit of spatial objects, textures, materials and interactive elements, patients are invited to experiment, build and reimagine what a therapy space can be. Grounded in trauma-informed design, psychological research and personal reflection, this project proposes a new approach; a therapy room that evolves with the user, offering agency, comfort and creative exploration.
