Paint as if No One Is Watching

Sometimes, we can act without thinking, read without understanding, hear without listening – and look without truly seeing. In the same way, we can be visible without being seen.

What does it mean to be visible, and what does it mean to feel seen?

Is it when someone notices what you do or acknowledges you as a person? When someone cares about you or remembers you? Is it the same as feeling important, valued, needed or appreciated? Or is it synonymous with feeling evaluated, judged, observed or watched? Can visibility exist on a spectrum?

Through my research and artistic work, I explore the meaning of visibility, vulnerability and the experience of being seen in the art classroom from the student’s perspective.
