As office landscapes have evolved, the need for flexible and secluded workspaces has increased. Open offices encourage collaboration but they can also lead to higher noise levels and reduced concentration. During the pandemic, work habits changed drastically, and many experienced the benefits of working from home, influencing how we view the office of the future.
My degree project focuses on designing a work lounge chair for Bolagsverket. The goal is to create an ergonomic and aesthetically appealing piece of furniture made from local materials, providing employees with a space for uninterrupted work and digital meetings.
I have analysed Bolagsverket’s needs, studied existing solutions and developed a work chair equipped with speakers, lighting and power outlets. The ergonomic design allows employees to recharge both themselves and their devices.
The chair’s pattern is inspired by Sundsvall’s history and culture, giving the furniture a strong local identity. The project also includes research on material selection, exploring the possibility of using Swedish leather from local farms.
