My Björkqvist

The Outermost Line and Beyond: Moving through Peripheral Territory is an arena where human experiences gather and unfold at their outermost boundaries. Here, the transition between the human and the measurable, the private and the public, is continuously renegotiated. In a time of uncertainty and imbalance, the contours of the self follow the shifting movements of the world, while the boundaries of integrity are tested and sometimes dissolve.
The process in the studio forms the core of my practice. It is where questions are worked with to look beyond initial perceptions, translating thought into material. Through shaping and casting, I turn the outermost layer inside out, creating conditions for an exterior to become an interior, a section of how a form or body leaves an imprint on another, mirroring the interplay between humans in a larger context. Layer by layer, the outermost line extends beyond itself.
