The Collection

I tried to become a minimalist, but my life has always been filled with collections – objects I’ve saved without asking why. When I started decluttering, I realised it wasn’t the things I was holding onto, but the memories they carried. But the memory itself felt too empty, so I needed to give it a physical presence.

My degree project is about collecting in a different way. I’ve dug through old boxes, looked at childhood drawings, and observed details of my everyday life. Fragments of memories and people sneak into my work. The sculptures have become not only caricatures of myself and those around me, but also a collection of impressions and stories that come to life when they stand together.

I work quickly, often without a clear plan and let the materials guide me. Cracks and crooked lines become part of the process. Nothing is perfect, but everything connects. The sculptures are placed beside each other and begin to form relationships. I recognise them.
