Unspoken Proximity

Unspoken Proximity is a life-sized birdhouse installation and film that explores our relationship to nature through the lens of ecosexuality. Departing from the metaphor of nature as mother, the work suggests a more intimate and reciprocal relation—nature as lover. Drawing on theories of perception, place, and the limitations of language, it reflects on the cultural divide between humans and the more-than-human world: plants, animals, landscapes. The viewer peers into the structure through a mirror dome to watch a film in which the body—its skin, textures, movements—is treated as a landscape. Memory and desire unfold across its surface. The work invites a sensory and emotional proximity to nature that challenges traditional boundaries between self and environment.
