How can a sound-absorbing panel interact with a historical cultural building?
My degree project examines how a sound-absorbing panel can be integrated into an environment in Berwaldhallen – a concert hall in the brutalist architectural style with a strong identity. By using the material X-FELT from BAUX, in combination with design elements inspired by Berwaldhallen’s interior, I create a panel that both absorbs sound and harmonises with its surroundings.
How can sound-absorbing panels with a new design take their place in a space with strict preservation principles? By balancing acoustics, materiality and design, I explore how sound-absorbing elements can become part of Berwaldhallen’s architectural expression, without compromising its historical heritage.
