Design Ecologies

Exhibition: 14–23 May at Konstfack

About Design Ecologies

Design can help us to imagine and realise more desirable futures collectively. Through the Master’s programme in Design Ecologies, our students explore how products, services and systems affect many lives, shape societies and environments as they relate to users across the planet. The programme promotes design’s role in ecological processes, nurtures an artistic design mindset that cares for multiple forms of life and acknowledges humans’ interdependency with other species.

During their education, and through design-driven explorations, students approach topics using multifaceted lenses, collaborating with specialists that inform and participate in the development of their knowledge and ideas.

In Konstfack’s Degree Exhibition, you will find works that embody visions of preferable futures and alternative realities, as they explore topics that range from the remediation of harbours using biodegradable materials, the colonisation of Mars through pioneering plant companions, open source tools for agroecology, shoes for seed dispersal, deterrence systems to avoid cetacean strandings, and more. In a pragmatic way, the work investigates design ecologies and ecologies of design.

We proudly invite you to take part in the students’ degree projects and their journeys.
