Staring into Transparent Eyelids

My degree project consists of glass-sculpted heads covered with images made using the Swedish Graal technique. The work is a combination of painting and glass. The Graal technique enables me to create paintings in glass, which then I sculpt into human heads. Each head is unique and has a different design on it. Each painting tells a different story. They are designed by merging two sides of the same story on each side of the sculpture. The side with the sculpted face represents the physical reality of the story. The back of the head is unique every time. The image shows the mythological qualities of the story, and, being on the back of the sculpted head, it represents all the hidden, archetypal aspects.
A fully sculpted head represents the duality of every story – the face of the facts and what hides in the back of our minds.
