On the Verge of Breaking explores fragility, transformation and movement through jewellery, its interaction with the body, and installation. Inspired by Impressionism and the ephemerality of a moment, this degree project captures the tension between breaking and becoming. By pushing metal to its limits by hammering, stretching and allowing it to crack, I am in dialogue with the material.
My work challenges traditional jewellery displays by seeking to preserve movement in still exhibition spaces. Through video, photography and dance, I explore the interplay between body, space and jewellery.
The concept of “home” is important to my research, not just as a physical space but as a feeling of grounding, belonging and identity. Each piece invites engagement, embracing fragility as an act of care. The degree project questions wearability, memory and transformation, positioning jewellery not just as adornment, but as a method of storytelling, carrying, care and emotional expression.
