Paradoxes is an artistic exploration of the awkward role of a teacher as seen from a perspective of power. In exploring popular media, teachers can be seen in both the role of the tyrant or the parent, a god-like figure that brings enlightenment or one that sows fear or stifles their subjects’ individuality. By visiting school classrooms and analysing media portrayals of the teacher, I grapple with this duality of the teacher’s role. By using a mixed media technique, I let the images and archetypes speak.
