What happens in the encounter between students and a new material in art education?

Today, we have an abundance of textiles and textile waste. Can we take advantage of and reuse it as material in art education? My degree project occupies a space between art and craft, where the focus is on two-dimensional and spatial creation using textiles as a starting point.

During a workshop, students from an elementary school have explored textiles and their properties as tools and materials for creating images. The study aims to investigate whether textiles can have a place in art education.
