Beautiful Left Hands
An altar of hands. Hands that carry stories from several decades in the Swedish school. Sensory memories of the challenge of writing, cutting and measuring. This artistic work moulds an identity of left-handedness. The left hands are made of plaster and shaped with tools from the art classroom. During interviews I have photographed informants’ hands. These photographs have then formed the basis for the continued process. I have made casts of the informants’ left hands, as well as my own.
